You may remember that I am one of 103 authors (yes, I did say 103) who although strangers to each other, agreed last year to co-write a book called Age of Conversation, offering essentially the latest and greatest mind blurt from each of us on a subject we all hold near and dear: the use of conversation as a business marketing tool.
The Age of Conversation project took on a life of its own. A great story. The two guys who started it all--Drew McLellan from Des Moines, Iowa, and Gavin Heaton, from Sydney, Australia--(yup, I did say Sydney) had not met either, at least not before the project was well underway. The entire book was written on the web and published initially on the web, later available in paperback. And the proceeds of this amazing experiment in collaborative authorship on the web went to a charity benefiting kids.
The project got lots of media coverage, among which my favorite is probably making the cover of the Dubai-based Khaleej Times' Weekend magazine. Pretty cool, huh?
How could you improve on a great stunt like that?
Well, probably by creating a sequel. Many of us (and some new folks) have signed on again to go around one more time with the dynamic duo. Of course, in the year since Age of Conversation was published much has changed in our respective views on what works and what doesn't in getting people engaged in the kinds of conversation that makes things happen. So it should be fresh thinking on the subject.
So keep your eyes and ears open for word of Age of Conversation 2.0. Better yet, let Drew McLellan know what you think the new book's focus should be. What's the topic for Age of Conversation 2.0? If you're so inclined, you can also sign up to be considered as a co-author for Age of Conversation 2.0., Be prepared to lets the folks in charge know why you're a good candidate for writing a chapter in a business/marketing book.
Knowing these guys, they've probably got an insane deadline for votes and sign-ups..oops, I see they in fact do. It is Sunday Feb 3. So get your vote in by end of day Sunday or otherwise just plan to cheer us on.
