Get ready for Twitter's prominence to be replaced by, well, people talking.
Or maybe not.
Enter Bubbly, a brand new saerive that has thousands of users--would you believe half a million of them in less than four weeks--in India alone.
Bubbly was invented by a social app company named Bubble Motion, based in Silicon Valley and Singapore. Basically, Bubby is based on the concept of audio messaging that goes not to just one person, but to much larger audiences. Like Twitter, except audibly spoken. You can sign up wo follow friend or (India is Bollywood land) a celebrity or even a brand. When a text message is posted, the follower gets an alert and if he or she chooses to listen, they pay for the airtime. Like Twitter, Bubbly messages are brief (generally less than 30 seconds long).
Without even an official launch, Bubbly has people talking. Or perhaps more accurately, it has people listening. It's an easy way for a celebrity to get a message to the masses without having other people type tweets for them.
And think of the Brandversation opportunities. BMW has tested it in Egypt to promote a retail location, Citigroup has used it to advertise its services. Asia and Brazil--with their large mobil-using populations, are where the action is. Do you think Ashton and Demi will switch from Twitter to Bubbly any time soon? Not too soon, apparently, since Bubbly's developers have their sights set outside North America and Europe.
I dunno about this, though. Will people be willing to be charged for airtime while they listen to Ashton and Demi? GImme a break. But a half million Indian users in less than a month? That's a big deal.

Pay for that voice message? Hmm i don't think it will be asbig as twitter or facebook. But who knows.. lets see :)
