Darn it. The world is so connected--whether we like it or not--that Greece's future is going to influence ours. And that's not necessarily a good thing.
Of, if we could go isolationist again! To not have to care whether one country or another is fiscally irresponsible and has to declare bankruptcy. But no can do. We're stuck with this interdependence and it won't go away.
We're in a global conversation whether we like it or not. At the moment, I don't like it. I want to do a system reset and go back to when things were "normal." Except there is no going back there. This is the new normal. And it's going to get even more intense, more interconnected, more fragile.
Live with it. But keep talking about it. We have to engage in the conversation and not let it happen without us.
Someone said to me today that when President Obama goes to the G20 this coming weekend, they will tell him--in effect--to go home because America is not relevant anymore.
Jeez! Has it come to this?
