Just when we're wringing our hands about all kids so obsessed with texting they can't seem to do anything else, along come these three brothers from New Jersey, playing seriously badass bluegrass music. These three kids--the youngest is 10, oldest 14--are so truly accomplished you know they've been practicing the guitar, fiddle and banjo while other kids were twiddling their thumbs.
It's enough to start a whole new conversation about how kids are willing to put in the hard work on something they love. What does that say about our education system?
Last night was one of the many stops around the world where the TED gang has conducted "Worldwide Talent Searches" for future TED programs.
I understand amazing folks came forward at the events that took place in Shanghai and elsewhere. There were certainly some impressive folks last night.
What got lots of us talking though, were these three kids from New Jersey. They should fit right in at TED 2013, entitled The Young, The Wise, The Undiscovered.
The irony, of course, is that once someone appears at TED, they are no longer undiscovered.
